Als je net als wij dol bent op het kijken naar haarfilmpjes, dan zegt de naam Charlottecurls je misschien wel iets! Onlangs bracht Charlotte een bezoekje bij ons in de salon en heb ik haar wat vragen mogen stellen. Want wie is Charlotte nu eigenlijk? Lees snel verder om hier achter te komen!

Charlotte is een 35 jarige Nederlandse krullen influencer. Samen met haar hondjes woont ze in Almere. Je kunt Charlotte kennen van haar Instagram waar ze vaak video's plaatst waarin ze laat zien hoe ze haar krullen verzorgt en stylet.

Hoe ben je op het idee gekomen om Instagram video's te gaan maken?

Eind 2019 is Charlotte begonnen met social media. "Ik zat op mijn telefoon op social media en kwam een filmpje tegen van Ingecurls. Ik zag toen een voor en na filmpje van haar haren en dacht meteen wow! dat lijken mijn haren wel. Vervolgens bleek er een hele 'groep' met curlies te zijn en zo ben ik begonnen met mijn eigen journey".

Het was nooit echt de bedoeling van Charlotte om echt een bereik te creëren met haar foto's en video's. In eerste instantie was het gewoon voor haarzelf omdat ze graag de vooruitgang wilde zien en wat bijvoorbeeld verschillende producten etc met haar krullen konden doen. 

Voordat ze het wist had ze haar eerste samenwerking binnen en bleven de volgers binnen stromen. "Eerst heb je 100 volgers en dan denk je, ik ken volgens mij geen 100 mensen? Dan worden het er 500 en dan 1000. Ja 1000 mensen hoeveel is dat op een weiland? Of een voetbal veld?"

Wat vind je het leukste aan het maken van de video's? 

Het leukste aan het maken van de video's vindt Charlotte toch echt wel als ze achteraf een berichtje krijgt van iemand die dan aangeeft dat het voor hem of haar heeft gewerkt. "Dat ze dan zeggen 'ik heb het geprobeerd en dit werkt fantastisch voor mijn haar!' Dat vind ik het leukst!". Charlotte geeft ook aan dat er wel eens periode's zijn dat ze wat minder post. "Vooral door dat editten, ik ben daar helemaal niet zo snel mee. Ook met het maken van foto's. Hoe laat ik het, het beste overkomen. Ik denk zelf ook wel eens dat ik nog nooit zo'n goede was dag heb gehad! En dan zie ik de foto's van mijn haar en dan denk ik, ik weet niet wat dit is maar dit klopt niet".

Wat vind jij fijne producten? 

Charlotte geeft aan dat haar haren een goede shampoo met sulfaten nodig heeft. Ook vind ze het belangrijk om een goed product voor haar hoofdhuid te gebruiken zoals een scrub. Qua styling gaat haar voorkeur uit naar een foam en een gel met een goede hold. Om haar krullen vast te zetten gebruikt Charlotte nog wel eens wat haarspray. 

Een shampoo met sulfaten is niet CG, Charlotte geeft aan dat het voor haar niet mega belangrijk is of een product wel of niet CG is. In het begin vond ze het erg makkelijk. Ze zag andere krullenbollen CG producten gebruiken en voor hen werkte dat. "je hebt producten die wel CG zijn en niet CG zijn.
Je volgt mensen die gebruiken die CG producten, die hebben fantastisch haar. Dus wat ga je doen? Je zoekt gewoon op het internet naar CG producten." Het maakt voor Charlotte dus niet uit of het wel of niet CG is, zolang het maar goed voor haar haar is. 

Waar haal je de inspiratie vandaan voor je video's? 

Inmiddels heeft Charlotte meer dan 500 foto's en video's op haar insta staan. Wij vroegen ons af waar ze de inspiratie vandaan haalt. Ze geeft aan dat je wel echt creatief moet zijn en gewoon dingen moet uitproberen! "Ik volg mensen met stijl haar, die hebben dan leuke haarstylen. en ook daar kan ik bijvoorbeeld inspiratie van krijgen. Het een op een creëren van dergelijke haarstylen wordt het meestal niet omdat krullen nou eenmaal anders “uitpakken” en ik heb gewoon een stuk korter haar dan veel anderen. Ik geef er gewoon mijn eigen twist aan en kan zo toch blij zijn met het resultaat". 

Wat deed je eigenlijk voor dat je begon met social media ?

Charlotte heeft strafrecht gestudeerd en was werkzaam als jurist. Helaas heeft zij in 2018 een ernstig auto ongeluk gehad, waardoor zij nu niet meer kan werken. "Ik ben geramd van rechts en sindsdien is mijn leven niet meer het zelfde".

If you love watching hair video’s on Instagram or Tiktok you’d might recognize the name Charlottecurls. Charlotte recently visited Haarpro salon and I was able to ask her some questions. Because Who is Charlotte? Keep on reading to find out!

 Quick Introduction

Charlotte is 35 years old Dutchie who lives in Almere together with her sweet dog’s. You might know her from her Instagram were she posts videos showing how she takes care of her curls.
 

How did you come up with the idea to start making Instagram videos?

Charlotte started her social media in 2019. “I was scrolling through social media when I came across a video from Inge curls. "I saw a before and after video of her hair and immediately thought: Wow! That looks like my hair. It then turned out that there is a whole ‘group’ of curlies and that is how I started my Journey".
 
It was never really Charlotte’s intention to create a reach with her photo’s and video’s. At first it was just for herself to see the progress en difference when using different products.
 
Before she knew it she had her first collaboration and her following got bigger and bigger. “First you have like 100 followers and you start thinking, I don’t think I know 100 people? Then it becomes 500 and then 1000. Well 1000 people, how many is that if you place all of them on a meadow? Or a football field?”.
 

What do you enjoy most about making the video’s?

What Charlotte likes most about making the video’s is when she receives a message afterwards from someone telling her that it worked out for him or her. “When they tell me that they’ve tried it and that it worked out so well for them. I Enjoy that the most!”. Charlotte also tells me that there are periods where she doesn’t post as much as usual. “Especially because of all the editing, I’m not that fast at all. Also when it comes to taking pictures. How do I make sure it looks nice? I somethimes think that I’ve never had such a great wash day! But when I see the photo afterwards I’m like: ‘This does’t look right’.”.
 
 

Which products do you like best?

Charlotte tells us that she prefers a good shampoo with sulphates. She also thinks it’s really important to use a good product for her scalp. When it comes to styling she preferes a foam and a gel with a strong hold. To top it off Charlotte likes to use some hairspray.
 
A shampoo with sulphates is therefore not CG. Charlotte tells us that using only CG products isn’t necessary for her. When she started she thought it was just easy to use products that are CG. She saw other curly girls use them and they worked for them so why not for her. “There are products that are CG and there are a lot who aren’t. You see a lot of people use it and their hair is beautiful! So you search on the internet for CG products and start using them”. So Charlotte doesn't really care if a product is CG or not, as long as it is good for her hair. 
 

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Charlotte now has over 500 photos and videos on her Instagram. We were wondering where she gets all of her inspiration from. She tells us that you have to be creative and just really try different things. “I also follow people with straight hair, they have really nice hairstyles, and I get some of my inspiration from them. To create it the exact same way is impossible because it simply works out differently with my short hair. I just give it a little bit of my own and still be very happy with the end result”.
 
 

What did you do before you started doing soical media?

Before Charlotte started her social media she worked as a real estate lawyer. But unfortunately she got in to a car accident. Because of al the pain she’s not able to work anymore. “I got hit by a car from the right and since that moment my life completly changed”.
